Over the past 23 years, Koula has dedicated her career to public service as an Assistant State’s Attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Koula’s legal experience is extensive and includes significant trial and appellate experience. Throughout her career, she has zealously advocated for victims of crimes while always seeking justice.

Koula has tried hundreds of trials and motions while assigned to various units within the State’s Attorney’s Office, including, Felony Trial, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), Juvenile Justice, Narcotics and as a Sex Crimes Trial Specialist where she handled high-profile sexual assault and domestic violence cases. She has also extensively practiced and argued cases before the Illinois Appellate Court.  It is no surprise that Koula has been found qualified & recommended by every Bar Association and notably, “highly qualified” by the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois.

Committed to giving back to her community, Koula has been actively involved in various civic initiatives. She has been a resident of the 4th subcircuit for the past 20 years and serves as Trustee of Schools for the Lyons Township Treasurer’s Office. She also served on the District 204 Parent Advisory Board. Koula’s dedication to her community extends to her church, the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Demetrios, where she serves on the Board of the Philoptochos Society, aiding those in need in her community.

Koula’s passion for advancing the legal profession is evident in her role as a longtime mentor to several young attorneys and law students, many of whom have become close friends and colleagues. Koula is also a mentor leader on the WISE (Women’s Insight and Support Through Education) Employee Resource Group through the State’s Attorney’s Office. Koula is a member of several Bar Associations, including the Women’s Bar Association, the Decalogue Society of Lawyers, LAGBAC and the Hellenic Bar Association (HBA).  Notably, she served as the HBA’s President in 2020-2021 and as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors in 2021-2022.  Currently, she serves on its Foundation Board of Directors, dedicated to raising funds to award scholarships to deserving law students.

Koula is the proud daughter of immigrant parents and was born and raised on the north side of Chicago with her parents, brother and close-knit extended family. While she is a city-girl at heart, Koula has lovingly called the west Cook County suburbs her home for the past 20 years. During her free time, Koula enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Harry and their two teenage daughters, both students at Lyons Township High School. Additionally, she enjoys traveling, reading and gardening, while also spending time with her family's latest furry member, Apollo.
